The Dr. Harry Rosen Endowed Clinical Teaching Fund

The Dr. Harry Rosen Endowed Clinical Teaching Fund

In keeping with McGill’s tradition of excellence in teaching and in recognition of the significant contributions of Dr. Rosen as a teacher, mentor and role model the Faculty of Dentistry has created The Dr. Harry Rosen Endowed Clinical Teaching Fund in his honor.

Why this Endowed Fund

  • Academic dentistry is increasingly short of academic dentists
  • At the moment this manifests itself in shortages and unfilled posts across faculties throughout Canada and the US and elsewhere.
  • In the future if the problem increases as expected this will cause a crisis in the profession. We will simply not have enough dental teachers to teach students to become dentists.
  • Among the causes of this problem is the large difference in salary / revenue between an academic dentist and one in the private sector – the latter can earn much more than the former.

This fund will augment the salaries of full and/or part-time academics to enable them to fill posts where there are shortages and to attract the brightest candidates. To date the fund has received donations from corporate and private donors totaling over $430,000.00. The objective of the fund is to raise $500,000.00 which will generate a revenue of $25,000 a year in perpetuity.

Endowed Scholarships

A grateful patient of Dr. Rosen’s wanted to ensure that the good dentist’s legacy continued on for years to come and established The Dr. Harry Rosen Entrance Scholarship and The Dr. Harry Rosen Scholarship for Excellence in Dentistry at McGill University. Both scholarships exist in perpetuity and help fund the studies of the next generation of dentists.

The Dr. Harry Rosen Endowed Clinical Teaching Fund gratefully accepts contributions from corporate, professional and private donors. Contributions can be mailed to:
